Is GTA 6 on PC? No PC version or PC release date has been announced

Grand Theft Auto VI launches Nov. 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC version or a PC release date, and Microsoft says the game will not stream to PC.

Rockstar Games

No. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not announced a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI, and there is no PC release date. GTA 6 launches Nov. 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the only two platforms named in any official announcement, and Microsoft says the game will not stream to PC either.

That has not changed since the reveal. When Rockstar released Trailer 1 on Dec. 4, 2023, it said the game was "Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." The date has moved twice since then (our release date guide has the history), but the platform list has stayed the same.

Every console, including the PS5 Pro and the Xbox Series S, is covered in our GTA 6 platforms guide.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have announced

Every Rockstar and Take-Two release about the game names the same two consoles. Take-Two's latest quarterly results, published Aug. 7, list the game in the company's release lineup as "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5, Xbox Series X|S November 19, 2026". The same table lists PC for other Take-Two games, including Judas and NBA 2K27. GTA 6 has no PC entry.

Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, repeated the plan at the company's annual stockholder meeting on Sept. 17. "We're launching GTA 6 as a single player experience on two major platforms," he said, according to Inven Global.

Take-Two's list of places to buy the game includes the Microsoft Store and the Rockstar Games Store alongside the PlayStation Store. That does not add a platform: the only platforms Rockstar and Take-Two list are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Will GTA 6 come to PC later?

Rockstar and Take-Two have not said. Zelnick did talk about PC at the Sept. 17 meeting, but in general terms. Asked about how Take-Two times its PC releases, he said PC is becoming "more and more important" and that the company aims to launch where there is a meaningful audience, Inven Global reported. He did not mention a PC plan or a date for GTA 6.

That is the only recent Take-Two comment on PC. It is a remark about the company's business as a whole, not a GTA 6 announcement. Our story on the meeting has the rest of what he said.

Microsoft says GTA 6 will not stream to PC

On Oct. 6, The Verge reported that Xbox held exclusive rights to stream GTA 6 at launch, including to PCs, according to Kotaku and VICE. Microsoft answered that night. Matthew Ball, Xbox's chief strategy officer, wrote on X that the excitement "has also led to some misreporting" and that the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC." VICE says The Verge later corrected its report.

That rules out Xbox streaming GTA 6 to PCs. If you own a PS5, the PlayStation Store does list GTA 6 as "Remote Play supported," and Sony's PS Remote Play app streams games from your console to a Windows PC or Mac. The game still runs on the PS5, so that is not a PC version. Our streaming guide and our news story have more.

The Kotaku PC error

A Kotaku article published Sept. 29 said GTA 6 arrives "on PS5, Xbox, and PC." That is an error. No Rockstar, Take-Two or store source lists a PC version. If you see the claim repeated elsewhere, check it against the official sources listed on this page, or on our Is it true? page.

PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch 2

PlayStation's own GTA 6 page is direct about the older Sony console: "The game is not playable on PlayStation 4." No Xbox One version has been announced, and neither has a Nintendo Switch 2 version. Our platforms guide has the details for each.

What the console store listings say

If you are picking a console for GTA 6, these are the platform details on the official listings:

  • The PlayStation Store listing carries a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label. It does not say what the enhancement is.
  • The Xbox Store listing carries an "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" badge.
  • Rockstar's own marketing line, from the YouTube description of An Extended Look, is "Grand Theft Auto VI plays best on PlayStation 5."
  • Rockstar has not announced frame rate targets for either console.

What happens next

Whether GTA 6 comes to PC, and when, is an open question. Only Rockstar or Take-Two can answer it, and neither has. Our confirmed-facts ledger and our Is it true? page track the PC claim, and we will update this guide if the platform list changes.

For the rest of the launch picture, see price and editions, pre-load and the code-in-box version, and whether GTA 6 has an online mode.

Update log

  • Oct. 8, 2026: Added Microsoft's Oct. 6 statement that GTA 6 will not stream to PC, and the PlayStation Store's Remote Play listing.
