Sony is releasing Grand Theft Auto VI Limited Edition DualSense wireless controllers in a Black edition and a White edition, starting Nov. 19, the day the game comes out. Sony revealed them at its Sept. 3 State of Play and opened pre-orders on Sept. 10, priced at $84.99, €84.99, £74.99 or ¥12,480.

The controllers are Sony hardware, and every detail about them here comes from Sony's PlayStation Blog rather than from Rockstar Games. They are not one of GTA 6's two editions.

GTA 6 controller price and pre-orders

Both editions cost the same. Sony lists the price in four currencies, shown here beside the game's own prices where we have them:

CurrencyController (either edition)GTA 6 Standard EditionGTA 6 Ultimate Edition
US dollars$84.99$79.99$99.99
Euros€84.99€79.99€99.99
British pounds£74.99£69.99£89.99
Japanese yen¥12,480Not checkedNot checked

The US game prices are Take-Two's. The pound and euro prices come from the PlayStation Store in the UK and Germany, checked Sept. 30. In dollars, euros and pounds alike, the controller costs $5, €5 or £5 more than the Standard Edition. Our price and editions guide covers what each edition includes.

Pre-orders started Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. local time, Sony said, which on direct.playstation.com in the US meant 7 a.m. Pacific and 10 a.m. Eastern. Where you can buy depends on the edition:

  • White edition: limited quantities worldwide, at direct.playstation.com and participating retailers.
  • Black edition: limited quantities, exclusive to direct.playstation.com where Sony runs that store (the US, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg). In other regions it goes through select retailers.

Sony says both launch starting Nov. 19 and that dates and availability can vary by country.

What the Black and White editions look like

Sony says both controllers have a shimmering, color-shifting finish that mixes sunset colors with neon glow, palm tree details molded into the controller and official Grand Theft Auto VI branding. The Black edition takes its look from Vice City's nightlife. The White edition is inspired by Vice City at daybreak, with white sand and pastel skies. What Sony says about GTA 6 on PS5

Sony also runs a GTA 6 page on playstation.com, and Rockstar's official site links to it as "PS5 features." That page lists five PS5 features:

  • Tempest 3D Audio
  • Fast loading, with "near-instant load times"
  • Haptic feedback
  • Adaptive triggers
  • The DualSense speaker

These are Sony's claims, made on Sony's page. That page also rules out the older console: "The game is not playable on PlayStation 4."

The game's PlayStation Store listing shows these feature flags: "Vibration function and trigger effect supported," "Remote Play supported," "Offline play enabled" and "1 player." It also carries a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label without saying what the enhancement is.

On Rockstar's side, the YouTube description of An Extended Look, released Aug. 27, says "Grand Theft Auto VI plays best on PlayStation 5." The game still launches on Xbox Series X|S the same day. Our platforms guide covers both consoles and the systems GTA 6 is not coming to.

Update log

  • Oct. 8, 2026: We had said Sony's post names only direct.playstation.com. It also names participating retailers for the White edition, and select retailers for the Black edition outside the countries where direct.playstation.com operates, so we added where each edition is sold, the pre-order time and Sony's description of the two designs. We also corrected the title of Sony's post.
