Rhesus macaque

Rhesus macaque monkeys are among the more than 170 animal species in GTA 6's Leonida, according to Game Informer's cover story on the game.

Game Informer's Sept. 29, 2026, cover story names rhesus macaque monkeys among the animals of Leonida, with flamingos, manatees, pelicans, alligators, green iguanas, cane toads and feral cats. VICE's and Kotaku's reports on the story say the state has more than 30 land mammals.

Rockstar has not said where the macaques live in Leonida. Game Informer reports that certain animals are categorized as Rare, Discoverable or Legendary, without saying which ones. Our report on the cover story has more.
